Collaboration with the PCT

As a core facility of the University of Tuebingen, the Proteome Center Tuebingen (PCT) offers proteomic analyses against a fee.

We offer various workflows for qualitative and quantitative analyses of proteins, proteomes and subproteomes (e.g.  phosphoproteome, interactome). Other posttranslational modifications can also be analyzed upon request.

Protein identification (e.g. from a gel spot) is routinely performed on a Q-TRAP mass spectrometer, whereas quantitative shot-gun (phospho)proteomics experiments are performed on an LTQ-Orbitrap mass spectrometer.

Quantitative workflows are mainly based on stable isotope labeling of cells and tissues (SILAC); SILAC-labeling can be done either by the collaborators, or in our laboratory (please ask for details).

Scientists that are still interested in performing 2D PAGE are invited to use the equipement in our laboratory.

Please note that for a successful proteomics project:

- Genome of the organism of interest has to be sequenced
- Proteins should be delivered in µg amount as precipitated extracts or gel spots
- Theoretical background of the project, especially protocols employed   upstream of the MS measurement should be discussed with the PCT in detail in order to adapt the adequate analysis method
